Despite my best efforts I end up looking at the style and form of the author in question. How do they work with dialogue versus narration? Do they play with tenses when shifting perspectives?. What other authors have I read that have done 'X'? How does my work measure up against it?

Even something as simple as a op-ed piece becomes something to learn from. It's a perpetually humbling experience to balance out the persistent ego of thinking that anybody would want to read what I have to say.Adam Shaftoehttp://www.pageofreviews.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32023612.post-78083876399987104502011-06-05T11:39:43.201+01:002011-06-05T11:39:43.201+01:00Looking forward to more posts from you. Yesterday I listened to NPR a lot and every time I heard a portion of his speech, and especially when I watched him take the oath I grew teary eyed at how much our country has the ability to change. I truly hope that we can take advantage of that and bring the U.S. out of the mud. It is only mini, a baby tree at the moment really, but it has roots so I am hoping we can grow it to become bigger and more beautiful year by year.

Totally agree with you on the Advent calendars, the ones with the pictures are sooo much better. We used to keep ours and re-open the doors on the old ones, as well as a new one each year. You can still get them in places like the National Trust and Oxfam, but they seem to sell out really quickly.Beckyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02593584539843881411noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32023612.post-16172423499339111122008-12-14T06:25:00.000+00:002008-12-14T06:25:00.000+00:00lovely writing, amelia.lovely writing, amelia.bri chttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12443779076508344553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32023612.post-13707659052407669122008-12-14T02:50:00.000+00:002008-12-14T02:50:00.000+00:00Your picture of you and your dad is exactly how I ...Your picture of you and your dad is exactly how I remember him too.
